What is PRP/PRF?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets derived from a person's own blood. It is typically injected through microneedling into the skin to accelerate healing and stimulate the body's natural healing process. PRP injections contain growth factors that enhance the healing.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a newer treatment that is part of the blood rich in fibrin and stem cells. PRF is harvested from a person's blood and applied to the skin or injected into areas needing rejuvenation. Unlike PRP, PRF releases growth factors over time, providing longer-lasting benefits and stimulating faster healing. PRF is effective for skin rejuvenation, dermal augmentation, and treating hair loss.
Is this treatment right for you?
PRP is suitable for individuals looking to improve the appearance of their skin, particularly those with concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and overall skin texture. It is ideal for those who want a natural, minimally invasive treatment to enhance skin rejuvenation and promote a youthful appearance.
Down time
There is minimal downtime associated with PRP treatments. Patients may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which typically resolves within a few days. Most individuals can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure, though it's advisable to avoid intense exercise and sun exposure for a short period following treatment.
Treatment time
PRP & PRF treatments typically take around 45–60 minutes. This includes drawing a small amount of blood, processing it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets and fibrin, and then applying the solution through microneedling or direct injections. The exact duration may vary depending on the treatment area and individual needs.
Longevity of Results
The results of PRP & PRF treatments develop gradually, with noticeable improvements in skin texture and elasticity appearing within a few weeks. Since PRF releases growth factors over time, its effects can last longer than PRP. Most patients enjoy results for 6–12 months, depending on their skin type, lifestyle, and the number of sessions completed. Regular maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain optimal results.
